This book was recommended to me by a friend. I enjoyed the story and even stayed up late to find out who was the culprit trying to kill these foreign people. The story takes place in the future but I didn't think it was so much a sci-fi novel as it was an interesting story about the dynamic interactions of a group of foreign nationals stuck together in a dangerous crisis. Kendra is persuaded to photo - journal this trip across the USA to help prove to other countries that the plague is no longer a threat to the world and that it's safe to resume world trade. However, someone learns about this secret trip and tries to stop it. Suspicions and wrongful acusations intensifiy amongst the travelers as the trip becomes more dangerous. They all agree to continue their journey for the sake of the cause even though strange threats, and death stalk them. In the end, they amazingly and unquestionably stay together to accept their unfortunate fate. Throughout the trip, Kendra fights through her own personal fears and losses to discover that she has strength and love in her heart. The various ethnic characterictics and traits for each couple are cleverly captured by the author. The author does keep you guessing throughout the book. She shows that human reactions to fear are universal and tolerance heals. This book would make a great movie!Product details

this was a fascinating story with well defined characters. original story set in the not too distant future which makes it all the more plausible. I was sorry when it ended.
Author was recommended to me by a mutual friend and I am happy she told me about this writer. I do not typically read these types of books but within the first few paragraphs I was hooked. I immediately had feelings for the main character and that's no easy feat. Jil Plummer is now on my short list of author's I will read. Great book, just started reading and I'm almost done. Can't put it down and once you start neither will you. Can't wait to read your next book.
In this story you accompany a very diverse group of people on a difficult journey which brings out their true "character". I felt that the author presented the characters in such a realistic and captivating way that I was disappointed when the story ended.
Surprises lurk around turns in the road, people do unexpected things - all make you want to turn page after page to find out what happens next.
Jil Plummer is a gifted writer. She truly has the ability to create an interesting, intelligent plot with believable characters. I enjoy reading her work and look forward to her next novel.
Part mystery, part travelogue, "Caravan to Armageddon" takes the reader on a journey across the country with a cast of delightfully quirky characters as they attempt to re-establish foreign relations and reopen the borders to their respective countries after the world has been devastated by a plague. Along the way, they themselves come under attack. The author does an artful job of keeping the reader guessing who the culprit is, to the point where you're even wondering if the little girl who's part of the group could be to blame. United by a common fate, this group of foreigners finds themselves moving from wary to welcoming and gradually becomes friends. A page turner that will keep you on your toes.
Ordered for my , Caravan to Armageddon by Jil Plummer arrived soon after its June 20th publication date. I ordinarily steer clear of sci-fi and post-apocalyptic tales, but I was drawn to this one by the promise of an unusual futuristic story populated by people who could be my colleagues, friends, neighbors, indeed-- me.
I was not disappointed. Yes, the circumstances require a suspension of disbelief, but I was gripped by the characters -from the savvy photographer-narrator, Kendra Savage, to a host of quirky and riveting individuals from around the world, all determined to save themselves from the aftermath of , well, Armagedddon. Accordingly, they band together under a charismatic leader and flee for their lives from a plague that has devastated much of humanity. Their strength comes from a unanimity of purpose--to save the world from total annihilation, but into their midst comes an insidious and unidentified force evidently bent on weakening their resolve and destroying them.
What kept me turning pages--that is to say, pressing the forward button on the -- was the suspense created by the author's cleverness in dropping clues--often deliberately misleading--as to the identity of the diabolical thing that seems to be preying on decent folks whose main purpose in life is no less than saving the world. In other words, this book is not a "who-dunnit" but a "who's-doin'-it" that kept me on tenterhooks until the last page.
Caravan took me on the cross-country trip I always wanted to take. This mystery made time on the treadmill fly by.
It kept me wanting to read on. Jil has developed very fun complex and creative characters. Loved the book!!
